Cows are raised mainly for milk production. Breeds that produce more milk should be selected. In Kerala, HF and Jersey breeds are mostly raised. The main difference between these is that HF breeds produce more milk, but since the milk has less fat, its price is likely to decrease and this breed of cows also takes longer to calve. Jersey breeds produce less milk, but they produce good fat milk. This breed of cows is suitable for our climate and is generally easy to raise. To determine the age of a cow, if the two front milk teeth have fallen out and new, wider, yellow teeth have come in, it can be considered that it is close to two years old. Bright, energetic eyes are another sign of a good cow. You should also make sure that the udder of the cow you are choosing is free of any other problems.
